Why do you want to own a German Shepherd Dog?
Have you researched this breed and are you aware of their characteristics? If so, please explain how you feel this breed is suited for you and your family?
Specifically, what has attracted you to this special breed?
Are you aware that this breed requires mental stimulation and is not a couch potato? If so, how would you intent to work this puppy/dog? i.e. training classes, competition, basic obedience?
What do feel the primary role is of the German Shepherd puppy in your home? i.e. is this dog intended as a family companion, working dog, sport dog, watchdog, personal protection dog, agility dog, tracking dog, police/military dog?

Do you want a male or a female German Shepherd Dog? What is the reason for your preference, if you have one?
Have you owned a German Shepherd Dog before? If so, how long did you have the dog(s)? Where is/are the dog(s) now? If the dog(s) have passed away, of what cause(s)?

How much time a day do you have to spend with your dog? How long will your dog be left alone during the day?
Please describe your potential dog/puppy’s living accommodations and whether or not you plan on having the dog live inside or outside?
Please describe your yard, kennel, or other area where the dog would have access to exercise and to be able to relieve himself/herself. i.e., kennel, acreage, fencing, pool.
Do you own or rent your home? If you own your home, how long have you lived there? If you had to relocate, would it be mandatory that your dog come with you? If you rent, do you have permission to have a dog?
Under what circumstances would you rehome your dog? i.e. illness, business transfer, etc.
Do you have children? If so, what are their ages?
How would you discipline your dog/puppy?
What manners do you find unacceptable of your puppy and what would it take for your puppy to become an acceptable member of your family? Since your puppy must be taught and trained and looks to you as the Alpha pack leader, it would be your responsibility to teach the puppy these behaviors. What actions are you willing to take in order to do this? Please provide explanation and details of each.

Do you plan on obedience training your puppy/dog? If so, have you researched any trainers in your areas or will you train the dog yourself?

How much socialization do you plan on with your German Shepherd? Where would you socialize him?
